What TruEnergy^® is

TruEnergy is a patented system enabling the continuous measurement, verification and active control of the actual energy efficiency of a home. By continuously monitoring a home's HVAC and electric systems, TruEnergy is able to determine how efficiently a home uses energy and to improve energy usage.

How TruEnergy^® works

TruEnergy calculates the true energy efficiency ratio, or TruEER™, of your HVAC system, and the true energy efficiency performance, or TruEE™ of your home envelop. TruEnergy does this by collecting electrical information from the circuits that power the largest energy consuming appliances in your home, such as the HVAC system, water heater and clothes dryer. At the same time TruEnergy also collects thermal information about how the different appliances are causing your home to become warmer or cooler, and more or less humid. Combined with local weather information, TruEnergy evaluates your home's energy performance and diagnoses problems with your HVAC system and home envelope. TruEnergy then makes recommendations as to the most cost-effective ways to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home.

How TruEnergy^® is different

TruEnergy is not just a "smart meter" or a "smart thermostat". TruEnergy generates the TruMetrics report, which provides measurements of a home's actual energy efficiency. This goes beyond providing energy consumption information to providing the real-time Energy Efficiency Ratio (in Btu per kilowatt-hour) of a home's HVAC system, as well as the thermal performance of the building itself.
